Welcome to Space Vector
Corporation (SVC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Alabama Aircraft Industries, Inc. Over the past 30 years, Space Vector has launched 37 rockets
in support of various scientific and defense related projects with
an enviable 94% success rate. Our most recent success was the ait-2
mission launched from the Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska. This 2-stage
medium range target vehicle (Castor IVB/M57) performed a series of
complex post boost maneuvers to deploy various countermeasures and
gather data for the onboard experiments. Many of our vehicles are
boosted by refurbished Minuteman motors that have proven to be very
reliable and cost effective.
We are a key subcontractor
to Lockheed Martin and provide the major sections for the Payload
Launch Vehicle (PLV), the interceptor test bed for the Ground-based
Midcourse Defense (GMD) program. Space Vector also furnished 25 vehicle
sets to Coleman Aerospace Corporation in support of the successful
Hera target vehicle program.
Our post boost attitude
control systems have flown on hundreds of NASA sounding rockets. These
subsystems integrate our fully adjustable cold gas pneumatic components
with the Miniature Inertial Digital Attitude System (MIDAS) platform.
Products that have been
developed from our launch vehicle experience include: Guidance and
Control Systems, Vehicle Interface Units (VIU), rechargeable Flight
Termination System (FTS) and System Batteries, cold gas Attitude Control
Systems (ACS), Separation Systems, Parachute Recovery Systems, and
various Ground Support and Test Equipment including missile Transporter
Erectors (TE).
