PLV has served as the principle launch vehicle for the development of the National Missile Defense (NMD) program which is now known as Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD). Space Vector is the principle subcontractor providing the design, development, fabrication and test of the launch vehicle hardware including:
• Upper Stage Integration • Nose Fairings • Payload Support Modules • Booster Adapters • Interstages • Aft Skirts • Wire Harnesses • Ground Support Equipment (GSE) • Test Equipment
Space Vector has provided vehicle hardware and software systems for missile defense for over 20 years. Beginning in the 1980's with the Homing Overlay Experiment (HOE) through completion of the current Payload Launch Vehicle (PLV) program, SVC will have provided a total of 18 sets of flight hardware. The PLV/EKV program has tested critical interceptor system components in a series of launches from the Kwajalein Missile Range (KMR) located in the Marshall Islands.
